Dangerous, savage and fiercely territorial, orcs live and thrive in nearly any climate. Large and humanoid, their leathery skin tints from grey to green to brown, and they typically tower over most of the civilized races. Their history and creation is muddled in myth and legend; some say there were created by some dark god as shock troops in a forgotten celestial war, or that they are the creation of some elvish experiment that wasn’t able to be contained, or even that they are elves themselves, tainted by demons and turned to bloodlust. Regardless, they are incredibly dangerous, and at times, very organized and intelligent.
Usually existing in climates inhospitable for civilization, they spend much of their time fighting between small tribes for land, fertile orc women and material wealth. They have a long and storied history of warring against humans, elves and dwarves as well, briefly coming together at different points in history in multi-clan assaults against civilization. While typically savage and brutal, they are also relatively intelligent, and have been known to engage in trade, shipcraft, and even rudimentary fort construction, and although their culture is brutally martial and clan-loyal, some orcs have been known to venture away from their tribes and villages and seek out a life among civilization.
